Sport: Weather causing havoc for Tuvalu's Pacific Games team

10:37 am on 30 June 2015

Tuvalu's Pacific Games team is hoping to finally begin their journey to Papua New Guinea today.

Bad weather has been preventing the squad from boarding a boat to Fiji, from where the 113 athletes and officials are scheduled to fly from Nadi to Port Moresby for the Pacific Games.

The Manu Folau ship was postponed again yesterday but the Tuvalu National Olympic Committee says the team is now expected to leave Funafuti this afternoon.

The Air Niugini Charter flight from Suva has been delayed two days until Friday to allow the team time to make the three days voyage.

The Pacific Games in Port Moresby officially get underway on Saturday.
