The Philippines-based company planning to build a food processing plant in American Samoa is vetting potential third parties to operate the plant.

The planned investment by AVM Bernardo Engineering of a $106 million US dollars was announced by the governor, Lolo Moliga, last year.

The company is proposing a multi-line food processing plant focusing first on sausage, ham, nuggets and patties.

American Samoa's Commerce Department director, Keniseli Lafaele, says it has taken time to vet several interested third parties to operate the local plant.
