Guam maintained their fairytale start to Asian Football World Cup qualifying by beating India 2-1 yesterday at the National Training Centre to jump to the top of their group.

Brandon McDonald and Travis Nicklaw scored for the US territory, who conceded a late consolation goal from Sunil Chetri.

It's the second win inside a week for the Pacific Island minnows, who achieved their first ever qualifying win against Turkmenistan.

Matao head coach Gary White says planning for their next round of matches starts immediately.

"Can't really have a break because we've got to prepare for Iran in September. We will go to the Azadi Stadium on the third of September so as soon as the game is done again it's preparing everybody to stay focused and be ready for that event".

The Matao have six points from two matches, three points clear of Oman, while in the other Group D clash, Iran were held to a 1-1 draw in Turkmenistan.
