The Northern Marianas has implemented precautionary measures at the Saipan international airport by setting up screening stations after South Korea confirmed a seventh death from the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome or MERS.

South Korea is the CNMI's number one tourism market with more than 14,000 South Korea visitor arrivals in the CNMI in February 2015.
The CNMI's Public Health official, Warren Villagomez, says the Centers for Disease and Control Prevention's field epidemiology office in Guam has not recommended any type of active screening in the CNMI because South Korea is doing a good job in regards to handling and care of MERS.
But the CDC, nonetheless, has set up five television sets, called travel alert monitors, which are for public health awareness and for other evolving diseases that could be a potential threat to the CNMI.
