The Papua New Guinea Foreign Minister says he will be talking to his Australian counterpart on how to better coordinate aid to Bougainville.

Rimbink Pato, who on Tuesday announced he was lifting a ban on Australian travellers entering Bougainville, says Australia needed to consult better when taking decisions on Bougainville.
Australia has had to backtrack on plans to open a foreign mission on the autonomous island.

Rimbink Pato says he received an apology from Julie Bishop, and says no foreign mission will be opened on Bougainville.
He also says he will have further discussions on Australia's aid programme.
"Of course in due course we will talk to them about how their aid to Bougainville is to be applied because they have to be aligned to some of the programmes that we as the National Government are also providing for on the island."
