Sport: Fiji planning thorough build-up to U19 Cricket World Cup

Cricket Fiji has unveiled their squad to compete at next year's Under 19 World Cup in Bangladesh.

All players involved in the East Asia Pacific title in February have been retained by head coach Shane Jurgensen, with four new additions, including overseas-based trio Jordan Dunham, Sam Saunokonoko and Jack Charters.

The January tournament will be the first time Fiji has contested a Cricket World Cup at any level and national high performance manager, Joe Rika, says they want to be as prepared as possible.

"We've kept the 14 that travelled. The overseas based players were always part of the plan - unfortunately they just couldn't make the New Zealand trip because of studies and commitments overseas. We are very lucky to have them as part of the squad. They bring in a lot of experience and a lot of exposure overseas - it's going to help the boys a lot. We've got a good programme, here, locally, for our under-age teams and we just want to make sure we continue".

Joe Rika says the team will head to Sydney in November to play the Papua New Guinea Under 19s and an Australian representative team, with a trip to New Zealand also likely in December and a possible pre-tour camp in Sri Lanka.
