The Bougainville Electoral Commission has come under fire as allegations emerge of voters being turned away from ballot stations during elections in the self-ruling PNG province.

The Post Courier reports it has been told by a polling official that many voters' names were not on the common roll.

The election is being held over a two week period - starting this week and ending on May the 25th.

One voter, John Miringtoro, told the Post Courier the Bougainville Electoral Commission should move quickly to solve the problem, well before the elections in 2017 and the independence referendum.
