A former women's MP for Central Bougainville says she is pleased to see the way people in the area are embracing the new election.

Central Bougainville was at the heart of the years of violence during and after the civil war with many locals taking years to endorse the changes ushered in by the Peace Agreement.
The autonomous Papua New Guinea region goes to the polls from May the 11th.
Therese Jaintong, who won a seat in 2005 but has not run since, says in her area it is great to see the support coming through for the election process.
"The good thing in Central, especially in Kieta where the crisis started, you know they are supporting the candidates - even the Me'ekamui's, they have put up their hands and they are supporting their candidates. Those who have been outside the process are now coming in to support the candidates. That is one thing I can see that is very positive."
