Solomon Islands Ministry of Finance is putting its footdown on dodgy contracts, saying it will not pay government suppliers, contractors and service providers who do not comply with its procurement rules and regulations.
The ultimatum is being delivered by the ministry after recent cases of several government ministries and agencies failing to comply.
The procurement rules require all government contracts to be compliance reviewed and counter-signed by the ministry, under regulations brought in 2013 to avoid wastage public funds on inferior goods and services as has been seen in the past.
