Visitors from Samoa attending a Flag Day celebration in American Samoa have been taken in for questioning over an alleged sexual assault.

Our correspondent reports six members of the Don Bosco group are alleged to have sexually assaulted minors while they were in the territory.

The Don Bosco College, a trades school at Alafua, was invited to perform traditional entertainment and to compete in the fautasi race.

American Samoa's Deputy Attorney General, Mitzie Jessop, says three members were taken into custody but more were wanted for questioning, including a teacher.

She says the police investigation is ongoing.
