American Samoa business licence hikes closer

7:46 pm on 2 April 2015

A bill hiking business licence fees has been approved by the American Samoa Senate.

The senators though did cut the level of some of the increases set by the administration.

They have approved standard business licence fees at $US150, up 600 percent, but substantially less than the $250 dollars the governor wanted.

Taverns and other alcohol vendors will pay $300, instead of the $500 proposed.

Under the Senate plan liquor importers would pay another 50 percent, taking their charge to $1500.

The House will noe review the bill.
