The Fiji Rugby Union has strengthened its medical screening procedures following the death of Fiji Warriors prop Iosefo Bele Tabalala.

The 32 year-old died in his sleep at the team hotel on Saturday, after suffering a heart attack.

Tabalala had a previous history of Rheumatic Heart Disease.

FRU Chief Executive Officer, Radrodro Tabualevu, says the Union has a stringent medical screening process, in alignment with World Rugby requirements, and after reviewing all internal processes, has escalated its baseline procedures with rigorous and objective cardiac screening.

FRU staff and the Fiji Warriors players will pay their respects and present their Reguregu to Tabalala's family on Wednesday while his funeral will take place on Thursday.
