A second foreigner has drowned in a week in the Cook Islands.

On Saturday, the body of a 30-year-old male diver was found over the reef outside Avarua Harbour.

The Argentine national had been diving alone on Friday evening, and was reported missing to police by the owner of the fishing company he was contracted with.

By the time police were notified, it was too dark to search the waters, and his body was located the next day.

The previous weekend, a 37-year-old German tourist drowned after he was swept off the double kayak he was paddling with a friend at Aitutaki.
