New US Navy drone to be based on Guam

A new drone designed for long range surveillance that can stay in the air for 24 hours is to be based at the Andersen Air Force Base in Guam.

The Pacific Daily News reports that the 2017 deployment of the MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft has been confirmed by naval authorities .

The Triton is expected to support a wide range of intelligence-gathering and reconnaissance missions, maritime patrols and search and rescue.

The first US Navy MQ-4C Triton completed a flight from California to Maryland in September last year.
