American Samoa's Chief Procurement Officer Tiotalaga John Kruse has submitted his resignation to Governor Lolo Moliga.

The governor says the resignation is effective from February 5.

That was the day Tiotalaga and his wife Elaine pleaded guilty and were sentenced for knowingly converting funds for their personal use.

The couple escaped jail time but were placed on probation for four years and sentenced to home confinement in American Samoa for eight months.

They were also ordered to pay back US$400 thousand in public funds.

Governor Lolo says the Deputy Director of Procurement, Sapia'i Ma'o Ena will serve as the Acting CPO.
