Papua New Guinea MP from Goilala, Daniel Mona, has died in Manila, where he was being treated for malaria.
PNG Loop reports the prime minister, Peter O'Neill, saying he is deeply saddened by the untimely passing of a promising young leader who was an active supporter of his government.
He has extended the government's condolences to the Mona family and the people of Goilala.
