Police in Papua New Guinea's Hela province say tribal fighting that has plagued the area remains at a standstill.
Extra police and soldiers were deployed to the province last month to put a stop to fighting that has claimed the lives of at least 30 people.
The military operation culminated in the arrest of 145 people.
The Hela Provincial Police Commander, Mark Yangen, says the district appears to be experiencing some kind of peace and he only hopes it continues.
"The people are responding very well and the people are very happy at this point in time and I am appealing to the people of Hela to continue - there is no noise and no arrests have been made and I hope this will continue into 2015."
