Landslide blocks main road in PNG

3:01 pm on 24 December 2014

A massive landslide blocked part of a major trunk road in Papua New Guinea's Chimbu Province on Monday night.

The Post Courier reports the landslide at Moromaule, 20km south of Kundiawa, was triggered by protracted torrential rain.

The paper says it is a rugged location, surrounded by bush and no houses or food gardens were affected.

The blockage has jeopardised transport, with PMVs (buses) dropping passengers who are continuing on foot.
