Vanuatu airports boosted by NZ aid

Vanuatu's international airports on Efate and Santo have been boosted by equipment provided by New Zealand.

New Zealand High Commissioner Georgina Roberts has presented VHF radio and equipment to maintain scanning machines for Bauerfield and Pekoa airports to the Vanuatu Airport Authority.

Ms Roberts says the donations are part of an ongoing process to raise standards at the airports.

"In this world now where many many travellers and many people coming to Vanuatu and from Vanuatu. This is a standard of equipment that can sometimes be very challenging for the authorities to obtain but also to maintain so New Zealand has been very happy to support those responsibilities."

Earlier this year the High Commissioner also donated vehicles to for the security on the runway of the two airports.
