The two candidates for prime minister in Solomon Islands have been revealed right on the deadline for nominations.
A first time MP and former permanent secretary of the Ministry of Planning Development, Jeremiah Manele, is the candidate of the only legally registered group, the Solomon Islands People's Democratic Coalition.
Earlier two-time former Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare, had been put forward as the preferred candidate of a coalition that still needs a formal agreement before it can be considered as a possible new government.
A secret ballot is scheduled in parliament next Tuesday to decide between the two men.
