This comes after Narendra Modi met leaders of most Pacific Island countries during his brief visit to Fiji.

Fiji Live reports Mr Modi as saying India has always been keen to help the development priorities of Pacific countries.

He announced the setting up of a climate change fund, telecommunications assistance and a project to support tele-medicine and tele-education.

Mr Modi says India will work on solar energy projects at the community level, help establish a trade office in India catering to the Pacific, allow more convenient visa entry for the nationals of all island countries and give export help in agriculture, healthcare and IT.
