Oceania clubs Auckland City and Amicale FC have begun the OFC President's Cup football tournament in winning fashion, proving too strong for their national age-group opponents.
New Zealand and O-League champions Auckland City outclassed the Singapore U-23 team 4-0 in the opening game, helped by the dismissal of defender Ali Hudzaifi in the 20th minute after receiving a second yellow card.
In the later game, Vanuatu's Amicale prevailed 3-0 against the World Cup bound Fiji U-20 team.
Today is a rest day before Cayman Islands champions Bodden Town and Busaiteen from Bahrain begin their campaigns on Wednesday against Singapore and Amicale.
Bodden Town goalkeeper and captain Ramon Sealy says they're looking forward to testing themselves against different opposition.
"We've been doing well in our league for the past few years - we won the league the last two years - so we wanted to get some more international exposure and show everyone what we can do. I saw a few clips of the Auckland City team on YouTube but that's about it - we don't really know much - so basically we're not really worried about them. We're going to come here and play our game and show everyone what we can do and if we play to the best of our abilities and get some good results we can go home with the cup hopefully".
