The troubled American Samoa hospital, the LBJ, has a new chief CEO.

The Hospital Authority Board has made board member Taufetee John Faumuina Junior the new head.

Taufetee and another board member Tofaeono Dr Victor Williams had applied for the position and were therefore excused in the selection.

Taufetee was the first chief executive of the LBJ Hospital when it was made independent from the Health Department and became semi autonomous.

It has regularly struggled on the funding it gets from the public purse.
