Sport: PNG cricket team named for historic internationals

Cricket PNG has announced the 14-man Papua New Guinea Barramundis Squad that will play their first ever One Day International matches against Hong Kong in Townsville this Saturday and Sunday.

Chris Amini has been given the honour of leading out PNG's first ODI Team.

The team is headed by star batsmen Assad Vala, Tony Ura and Lega Siaka who all made international centuries in the past two ICC World Cup Qualifying Tournaments in the United Arab Emirates and New Zealand.

Former England test cricketer Geraint Jones is the only player with ODI experience having played 49 ODI matches for England from scoring 815 runs at an average of 24.69.

PNG will become the 23rd country in the world to play in an ODI match.
