The only hospital in the Northern Marianas will be able to treat more children, after hiring more doctors, particularly pediatricians.

According to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation's chief executive, Esther Muña, the Commonwealth Health Center now has six pediatricians and seven internal medicine doctors.

The hospital's revised Medicaid state plan now limits the participation of private providers, as they now are only allowed to accept Medicaid patients who are 18 years old and above.

The Medicaid Office confirmed they no longer have contracts with private clinics for children with Medicaid because the hospital has pediatricians.

Latest data from the CNMI Medicaid Office show that as of September 2014, over 7,000 children are either applicants or dependents under Medicaid.
