Sport: Toa Samoa squad named for Four Nations

3:05 pm on 8 October 2014

Toa Samoa coach Matt Parish has announced a 23-man squad to contest the upcoming Four Nations rugby league competition, but not all of them will wear the blue and white later this month.

12 players have been retained from the team that beat Fiji in May, while, despite being named, Suaia Matagi and Tim Lafai have opted to represent the Kiwis and Kangaroos instead.

The team will assemble tomorrow and head to Samoa on Friday for a week-long camp.

"I think it's very important that they go back there and promote the game of rugby league and I think there's plenty of young men on that island that would love the opportunity they've got and hopefully with them going back there and mixing with those guys they may get that opportunity and they may have that drive and passion to do that".

One player will be added to the squad following representative games this weekend.
