Sport: PNG Hunters players up for awards

12:06 pm on 27 August 2014

Papua New Guinea Hunters prop Willie Minoga has been nominated for this year's Intrust Super Cup Peoples Choice Award.

All teams were asked to nominate a key player for the award and Hunters CEO Brad Tassell says it's an ideal opportunity for fans to get behind Minoga and the team.

The winner will be unveiled at the Queensland Rugby League Gala Dinner in Brisbane in a fortnight.

Hunter captain Israel Eliab is also in contention for the Player of The Year award, while winger Garry Lo appears to have wrapped up the Top Try Scorer award and is expected to be a contender for Rookie of the Year voting.

The Hunters have the bye in this weekend's final round of Queensland Cup matches and need other results to go their way to sneak into the playoffs.
