A leading Fiji trades unionist and two party leaders have been rejected as election candidates.
Fiji Live reports Daniel Urai, Mahendra Chaudhry and Jagath Karunaratne are among 12 nominees rejected by the Fijian Elections Office after nominations for the September polls closed yesterday.
Mr Karunaratne is the leader of the United Freedom Party.
The Elections Office says 249 candidates have been approved.
The regime-backed FijiFirst party had all 50 nominees approved.
