New jail terms for New Caledonia's escapees

New Caledonia's criminal court has given two-year jail sentences to two recaptured prison escapees.

The two had fled the Camp-Est jail in April in what was said to be a well-prepared escape from the high security facility.

They remained on the run for three months before being caught.

The prosecution sought a three-year sentence for one of the men but the defence argued against it, citing the poor conditions at Camp-Est.
