This comes after three government MPs were dropped from the government coalition for reportedly backing a planned vote of no confidence.

The vote organised by the opposition leader, Moana Carcasses, did not come to fruition, because it lacked the numbers.

Our correspondent says the three MPs put out of the coalition are Marcellino Pipite, Samson Samsen and Tony Nari.

When parliament resumes MPs will be expected to discuss a parliamentary report reviewing plans for a major development of airport infrastructure.
