Sport: Busy period ahead for Fiji cricketers

A busy second half of the year begins for Cricket Fiji this week, following the arrival of the Korean senior men's team.

The touring side touched down in Nadi yesterday and will play 12 Twenty20 matches during their 15-day visit, which is their final preparations for the 2014 Asian Games.

The General Manager of Cricket Fiji, Inoke Lesuma, has just returned from Australia, where he attended last month's ICC annual meeting in Melbourne.

He says it was a valuable chance to network with the game's major players before focusing on a hectic period ahead.

"We have Korea coming in and them after that we will also be having national trials and a few matches also with the Korean team. Coming up is the off-season in Australia - a couple of players will be there as well - and then after that will be the Indian tour and then the preparation for the [World Cricket League 6] qualifiers".

Korea's first match is on Friday against a Fiji Board XI in Suva.
