Sentencing in Kali Fungavaka case adjourned

The sentencing of the two policemen convicted of manslaughter in the death of New Zealand Police Officer Kali Fungavaka has been adjourned until next week.

Matangi Tonga reports that Justice Cato adjourned the sentencing of former police inspector Kelepi Hala'ufia and constable Salesi Maile, and civilian Semisi Kalisitiane Manu, until the 9th of July.

There was a full courtroom yesterday, including the victim's family members from New Zealand, and victim impact statements were read out in court.

The third policeman Fatai Faletau who was found guilty on a lesser charge of assault, is expected to be sentenced on July 29th.
