Samoa TV station apologises to opposition MP

The owner of a TV channel in Samoa has apologised to an opposition MP over a story about imported whisky.

The Samoa Quality Broadcasting Limited which owns TV1 apologised to Levaopolo Talatonu for an error in a news report over the MP's recent court hearing on charges relating to an imported container of 900 cartons of whisky bottles.

The MP and a woman employee were found not guilty of the charges.

The television station not only apologized to Levaopolo but his constituency and family.

The MP and his lawyer had earlier lodged legal action against the station for defamation.
