The University of the South Pacific Students' Association in Fiji says there are no university policies against local students taking part in political campaigns.
Last week, a Bachelor of Commerce student, Tamani Seruiraduvatu, was told by the Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Board his scholarship was taken away because of his association with politics.

"The association's acting secretary general, Utuala Saeni, says while there are university policies against staff and international students participating in political campaigns, there is nothing about domestic students.
He says there are some more general clauses in the Regulation Governing Student Conduct that say student behaviour must not be subversive or bring discredit to the university.
Tamani Seruiraduvatu has said he spent one day, outside of university hours, collecting signatures for aspiring independent candidate, Roshika Deo.
The chairman of the Tertiary Loans and Scholarship Board chairman, Dixon Seeto, has refused all comment to Radio New Zealand International."
