The Papua New Guinea netball team are hoping a former foe can be their secret weapon at this week's Pacific Series in Rarotonga.

The action gets underway tomorrow on Monday local time with Fiji, Samoa, the Cook Islands and PNG all vying for regional honours.

This year's event also doubles as a World Cup qualifier, with the top two finishers

sealing their place at next year's tournament in Sydney.

Former Fiji coach Una Rokoura has joined the PNG coaching staff and Pepes mentor Annie Iamo is looking forward to utilising the four time Pacific Series champion.

"We've asked her to come as a high performance coach to assist with the team and give advice when there's a need there. Because she used to coach the Fiji team and they've been doing well so definitely she's got some inside information that be willing to share with us".

The Pepes finished second last year and Annie Iamo says they're targeting a similar result this time around.
