Hiccups amid Samoa's preparations for SIDs

11:05 am on 27 May 2014

Samoa's preparations for hosting the third Small Islands Developing States or SIDS conference in September are underway but technical work on the media center has been delayed.

The government is understood to be looking at hiring overseas technical experts to start laying cables for communications between the main conference venues and the media center.

Our correspondent in Apia says more money will be spent on employing overseas technicians because of the slow process as well as the lack of local technical knowledge.

The Ministry of Communication and Technology is heading the preparations fo the media center but efforts to obtain comment from the CEO have been unsuccessful.
