A further group in Fiji has applied to register a political party for the elections planned in September.
Fijivillage reports that proposed Fiji United Freedom Party has presented more than 6,000 signatures to the Supervisor of Elections.
The proposed party has as president Jagath Karunaratne, who is facing charges in court for allegedly writing seditious comments in public places.
Four parties have been registered so far and a fifth, the regime leader's Fiji First Party, is awaiting registration after submitting its application this month
