The Indonesia American Samoa Cooperation Committee says it's pursuing economic development and social programs with help from Indonesia.

The Committee, headed by Lieutenant Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga, says it's waiting until after Indonesia's presidential elections in early July before inviting the new Indonesian Ambassador to the United States to visit the territory.

It's hoped the ambassador's visit will help give some impetus to projects on the discussion table with Indonesia, including tourism training, a laboratory for the Department of Agriculture, technical assistance for the cocoa industry and making use of the Rainmaker Hotel property.

The first project funded by Indonesia is the construction of a sports complex in Pago Pago.
