8:45 am on 2 May 2014

The American Samoa Government shipyard at Satala is set to be privatised.

The Government has given instructions to the chief executive of Shipyard Authority, David Robinson, to start preparing the privatisation of the facility.

The Government took over the shipyard just on two years ago and during that time it has undergone a major clean up and acquired new equipment

But it is still seeking an additional Government subsidy and the Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga told David Robinson it seems the only practical solution is privatisation.
