Sport: Fiji third in Hong Kong as Samoa continue to struggle

Fiji was forced to settle for third at the Hong Kong Sevens as their two year title reign was ended in the semi finals.

England prevailed 17-7 but Fiji managed some consolation, beating Australia 21-12 in the third place playoff...although it wasn't the result captain Osea Kolinisau was after.

"Credit to England for the way they defended and their shape held really well against us. Against them we just didn't use our possession. We had plenty of possession but we never used it".

The All Black Sevens outclassed England 26-7 in the final to return to the top of the overall standings.

Samoa continued their horror run of form, winning just two of five matches as they bowed out against France in the bowl semi finals

Meanwhile the Cook Islands and American Samoa missed out in the Hong Kong qualifier, with Japan beating Italy in the final to earn core team status on next year's World Series.
