US military officials say they are considering their options about extending the deployment of a missile system on Guam.

Pacific Daily News says the truck-mounted Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense battery was deployed to Guam after North Korea threatened to fire missiles at the US territory last year.

Responding to a question from Guam's delegate to the US Congress, Madeleine Bordallo, at a hearing on Tuesday, The US Army's Chief of Staff, General Raymond Odierno said the Army is preparing and looking at options to keep the system on Guam.

Ms Bordallo has previously called for the system to remain on Guam to offset the threat posed by North Korea.
