The Papua New Guinea Hunters are expecting a capacity crowd for this weekend's first home game against defending Queensland Cup premiers the Mackay Cutters.
PNG made a winning start last week, beating the Redcliffe Dolphins 24-18 in Australia, while Mackay were thrashed 40-12 by the East Tigers.
Saturday's match in Kokopo is the first of three straight at the Kalabond Stadium and Hunters CEO Brad Tassell says demand for tickets is high.
"It's good for the boys to get back in front of their home fans and have that enormous support although it was pretty much like a home game against Redcliffe on Sunday. I think there was close to six thousand people in the crowd and I reckon about five and a half thousand of them were Papua New Guineans or people cheering for Papua New Guinea. We're going to get great support away from home as well but obviously our home support and having teams come up here is going to be good for us. I do know that most of the flights in-country from around the islands [and] around the mainland are pretty much already booked solid for this weekend's match."
