The District court in Samoa has dismissed all charges against the opposition MP, Levaopolo Talatonu and a senior employee of his shipping company, Christine Ainu'u.

Mr Talatonu was charged under the Customs Act, and Ms Ainu'u under the Crimes Ordinance, for the unlawful import of whiskey bottles from Australia.

They faced four counts of false declaration of goods under Customs Act and four other counts of defrauding Customs.

The pair told the court that personal effects were being imported in the container.

Mr Talatonu says he is considering bringing charges against the Customs officers who prosecuted him.
