The Rennell and Bellona provincial government in Solomon Islands says it will terminate a land lease agreement with a local milling company because it has not paid its annual lease for the past four years.
The provincial premier, Lency Tango, says ETH Global Investment and Partners Limited has leased land in East Rennell since 2008, but annual payments of 800 US dollars for the years 2008, 2009, 2011 and the current year are still outstanding.
The company has also subleased the land and the provincial government says this is illegal without its consent.
