Four police officers in Papua New Guinea have been suspended for their involvement in issuing arrest warrants for the Prime Minister and two other ministers.
The Commissioner of Police, Toami Kulunga, says the ongoing case into high profile lawyer Paul Paraka is being investigated by the Task Force Sweep Team.
He says, however, certain officers obtained warrants for the arrests of the Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill, the treasurer, Don Polye, and the finance minister, James Marape, for their alleged role in the Paul Paraka case.
These warrants were set aside in court on Thursday because they did not comply with proper procedure.
Mr Kulunga says this caused the impartiality or objectivity of the police force to come into question, and has tarnished the reputation of the PNG police.
He says as a result of their involvement, four police officers have been suspended, and a task force investigation team has been set up to investigate the matter.
