Samoa liquor board eases up night club and alcohol sales limits

6:35 pm on 23 December 2013

The Samoa Liquor Board has changed its stance on opening hours for night clubs and the sale of alcohol during the festive season.

Clubs from today can open from 6 in the evening until 2am and these hours will operate until Friday the 3rd, with the exception of next Saturday when the normal midnight closing time will still apply.

The liquor board secretary, Togia'i Fa'ilagi Eteuati, says the change has created a lot of excitement in the entertainment sector.

Health authorities and the police had called for the normal operating hours to be maintained.

Togia'i Fa'ilagi Eteuati says the board thinks people deserve to have more time to enjoy themselves while businesses can generate more revenue.
