Solomon Islands MP, Snyder Rini, has taken a swipe at the Solomon Islands Electricity Authority, saying it has received millions in government assistance but failed to improve services.
He says the Authority has been given both loans and grants to upgrade services, but still daily power cuts happen in Honiara.
Mr Rini was speaking during the debate on the 2014 budget, which includes a further allocation to upgrade electricity supply in Honiara.
The finance and treasury minister, Rick Hou, says the World Bank will fund part of the project but the bulk of the money will come from the Solomons government.
