The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation in the Northern Marianas has dropped plans for a big lift in charges after the regulatory commission raised concerns about the increases.

The CUC planned new prices included hikes for late payments, disconnection's and late connections.

The late payment penalty was to go up ten fold.

A new after-hours connection fee of 600 US dollars has been put aside, along with a proposed tripling in the investigation fee for the electric division, a disconnection fee of 220 dollars and reconnection of 200 dollars.
