The Office of the Attorney General in Samoa has confirmed it is involved in the investigation by Police into two government members of parliament and allegations of a failed breath test.
The Attorney General Aumua Ming Leung Wai told the Samoa Observer that police have passed onto his Office the relevant file, and his office is currently reviewing it.
He said that said that there are a few outstanding matters the investigating officer has to attend to, and once those matters are done, his Office will be able to complete the review.
Aumua says he hopes that will happen in the next few weeks if not sooner.
It has been more than two months since the incident involving a routine police patrol and two government MPs.
The Deputy Prime Minister Fonotoe Nuafesili Pierre Laufo is alleged to have instructed the Associate Minister, Muagututagata Peter Ah Him, to drive away as police were trying to conduct a breath test.
