American Samoa, which is heavily dependent on Hawaiian Airlines for international air connections is considering asking other airlines to look at flying to the territory.

The governor, Lolo Matalasi Moliga, has raised this during a meeting with the New Zealand high commissioner to Samoa, Jackie Frizelle who is also the consul general to American Samoa.

Lolo says he told Ms Frizelle that he has various initiatives to try and eliminate the barriers to tourism development for American Samoa.

This includes asking Air New Zealand, Virgin, and Fiji Airways to consider extending their Samoa routes to American Samoa.
